About Project
Sumas First Nation approached us with the goal of creating a modern, easy-to-navigate website that reflects their community, culture, and ongoing initiatives. The previous site needed a refresh in both structure and design, so we worked closely with SFN to build a platform that is clear, accessible, and aligned with their communication needs.
The new website highlights important community programs, governance information, and cultural history while making it easier for members and visitors to find updates, services, and resources. Our focus was to create a respectful, welcoming digital presence that honours who Sumas First Nation is today.
Our Role
The Sumas First Nation website was rebuilt from the ground up to serve as a reliable and accessible hub for community information. One of the primary goals was to create a platform that could grow with the Nation, supporting frequent updates, new initiatives, and evolving communication needs. We implemented a clear content structure centered around community services, governance, cultural history, and news updates. This organization ensures that members can easily find essential information such as announcements, programs, contact details, and resources. At the same time, the site introduces visitors to the Nation’s identity, lands, and ongoing initiatives in a respectful and meaningful way.
A major focus of the project was accessibility and ease of use. The site features simplified navigation, improved mobile responsiveness, and a WordPress backend configured for effortless content management. This allows staff to update pages, add announcements, and maintain the site without technical barriers. The visual direction references the natural landscape surrounding Sumas First Nation, the mountains, land, and water, using soft, earthy tones and open layouts to create a calm and welcoming digital experience. Photography and design elements help highlight the beauty of the territory and the strength of the community. Overall, the project delivers a modern, reliable, and scalable website that supports communication, transparency, and community connection for Sumas First Nation.
